Press Release Summary: Temping with SOS keeps band member Olly free to rehearse
Press Release Body: BIG things are on the brink of happening for local rock band The Clams.
Wimborne lads Olly Hopper, Richard Peacock and Pete Giles are in negotiations with record label New Line for a possible album launch next year.
It's a dream come true for 26-year-old Olly, who provides backing vocals and bass. He's been temping with SOS recruitment for the past few years in order to remain flexible about rehearsal times and gigs.
"We're really excited about the future," said Olly. "If it does take off as we think it will the album will be released in the summer. We've worked really hard for this and had a lot of support.
"People say we have a real groove which stands us apart from other bands and makes us sound very 70s.
"I've had a lot of support from SOS - the staff are planning to come along to one of my gigs. I have been offered full time work but it suits me being a temp - if anything happens with the band I have the freedom to be able to pursue it immediately."
The band meets twice a week at the Knighton Heath Music College near Ferndown and write their own material. Their inspiration comes from bands such as Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath.
They recently performed at 60 Million Postcards and Mr Kyps and are hoping to support future big names at the BIC.
Julie Cook, MD of SOS recruitment, said: "Olly is a real character and the staff here can't wait for the band to make it big.
"He's one of many successful Temps who find temping a useful way of earning money, gaining experience but keeping time free to pursue other hobbies or goals."
